Hi, I'm Alexander Almgren
Founder, Freshly Baked Studios — Brooklyn, NY

I grew up in Yorkshire, England, making music on anything I could get my hands on. By the time I finished studying music production and popular music at the University of Huddersfield, I had one plan: move to New York and make records.
So that's what I did.
My first years in the city were spent inside some of Manhattan's most respected studios. I was engineering sessions constantly — absorbing everything, working with incredible musicians, learning what it actually takes to finish a record at the highest level. Those years taught me the craft.
They also taught me what was broken.
I watched labels push artists into sounds they didn't believe in because “that's what's charting right now.” I saw songwriters lose credits to people who weren't in the room. I worked sessions where producers never got paid. And I watched young artists sign contracts they didn't understand, because nobody told them they could say no.
The worst part wasn't the money or the politics. It was the music that never got made. The albums that should have existed but didn't, because somebody got discouraged, got cheated, or just couldn't afford another day of studio time at $800 an hour.
In 2010, I started Freshly Baked Studios to do things differently. No label overhead. No studio rate that punishes you for taking creative risks. Just a producer who actually listens, working directly with artists on their terms.
That decision changed everything. Once I was free to focus entirely on the music and the people making it, the work got better. A lot better. Over the past 16 years, I've produced, mixed, or engineered 19 Billboard Top 20 albums — including a #2 and a #3. I've earned RIAA Gold and Platinum records for artists across hip-hop, electronic, folk, rock, and pop. A record I engineered was nominated for a Grammy. Altogether, the music I've touched has been streamed over 3 billion times.
But the metric I actually care about is simpler than any of that.
When an artist sends me a voice memo at 2am — just a melody and an idea — and we turn it into a finished record that makes them feel something real? That's the whole point. Not the chart position. Not the stream count. The moment they hear back what was in their head, fully realized, and they know it's done.
Today, I work with artists all over the world from my studio in Brooklyn. Indie artists who need their first single to sound like it belongs next to their heroes. Established acts looking for a fresh ear and honest feedback. Labels who need someone they can trust to deliver without drama.
I offer production, mixing, mastering, and Dolby Atmos — all remotely, so geography is never a barrier. Whether you're in Brooklyn, Berlin, or Bogotá, the process is the same: you tell me what you hear, and I help you get there.
If you've got something that's been sitting on your hard drive too long, let's talk. The first call is free, and I'd love to hear what you're working on.
